The artist
A one-take mindset.
John Michell is a Manhattan-born, Florida-raised artist working across hip-hop and R&B. His music is independently released through District Mind Records, the label behind the District Mind creative universe.
Michell's approach is direct: write, perform, produce, and shape the record without overcomplicating the moment. He is known for freestyling songs in one take, while also making beats and handling production and mixing himself.
The catalog currently listed on Apple Music includes Drivin Crazy, WHO IS YOU, U, Eyes Open, CherryWood, Control, BEATS V1, RIDE, LET IT GO, COME WITH ME, and WORKIN LATE, among other releases.
Eyes Open is documented by Apple Music as a 2024 Hip-Hop/Rap single released under ℗ 2024 District Mind Records. This profile keeps the editorial copy grounded in the public catalog rather than inventing a larger biography.
